Summer Contest.......Tell A Friend!

As you know, I have recently been given a treat from Angie Beechan -
 her Lemon Bundt Cake candle.
I would now like to give you the opportunity to receive your own candle - FREE. Yes, you read that right....FREE! Angie has graciously offered to provide a candle to one of my followers for this contest. She has left the option of SCENT open to be determined by the winner.
Rules for this contest:
#1 - You must be a follower. Simple enough. This can be done through Twitter, Google Friend Connect, etc.
#2 - You only need to leave a comment for me and your email address.
The comment is as simple as: "Candle Contest" : (then your email)
That's it. Those are the rules. No long, drawn out 'fill in your life'
        type of questions.
This is meant to be fun!

Now, as a BONUS ......if you refer a friend, and they follow....you will get an additional entry into the contest. Each new friend following=1 more entry. There are no limits to this. (just be sure they know to say YOU referred them!)

Now, as far as Angie's site....click on her Etsy shop and browse through her items she has been stocking for you. If you can, leave her a comment as to the type of scent you would like to see offered in her shop.

The contest will run until June 30th, 2010. All day. No cutoff time on the last day.
On July 1st, 2010 I will then pick a winner, and will notify you by email
to get the correct shipping address for your PRIZE!

        Pretty simple rules, right?
This contest is the first in what I plan to be many,
so make sure to get on  board from the get-go!
The clock is ticking............have you entered yet? Tell a friend today!

(***added note to those that have entered the contest thus far: I am not publishing the comments, as they are only meant to be used as entries into the contest, and I want to be sure your email remains private.***)

Rose, Oatmeal, Lavender

Rose, Oatmeal, Lavender.....Oh My!

My Etsy Shop is being stocked with great little goodies -
so come check it out!
Newly added are Tub Tea Bags, an awesome way to enjoy a botanical bath without all the fuss of the ingredients having to be cleaned up when you are done.
Simply toss in a tub tea bag, (or two, if you desire), and when finished...
simply toss it out.
What could be simpler?
This particular batch has Rose Petals, Powdered Milk, Oatmeal, Lavender Fizzion, and a touch of bubbles.
You gotta have bubbles! You can use the tea bag as a scrubbie to gently exfoliate as you wash, it will suds up and can be used like a wash cloth.
Be sure to visit My Etsy Shop  to check it out!
Have a great day everyone!

What a Wonderful Treat!

I was given the opportunity to review a candle handcrafted by a fellow blogger... Angela Beechan.
You can find her and lots of goodies at http://www.angiewith2.blogspot.com/ .
Now, the candle that I received was a deliciously scented Lemon Bundt Cake. It's a very warm, creme yellow colored soy candle. Soy, much better all around. The burn time on this little beauty is phenomenal- it has been burning for several hours, for several days, and still- it is going strong. The first things that you notice are always the littlest things: the wick. This baby has not once crumbled, or fallen apart and left those nasty little black bits in my candle (I really hate when that happens!) But this wick is staying true to its job!
The color as I mentioned is a warm, creme colored yellow- and blends with any room you place it in. The scent, a delicious lemon aroma fills the air, with hints of an italian cookie lingering all around you. It's all housed in a delicately etched glass mason jar, that as the candle burns, the image of etched fruit glows with the light of the flame. The jar itself, remains cool to the touch- which is very good, if you are like me, and tend to take your candles here and there. I actually blew the candle out and was taking it with me to show a friend, and realized how cool to the touch the glass was. I am definitely pleased with this candle.
Angela, thank you for sharing it with me. I will be passing your link along in comments, and I wish you the best in your creations!

Mmmm.... ok- this is definitely an aquired taste I guess. I personally liked it. Here is what I added to the recipe below:
1 package prosciutto (like 3 oz) torn into pieces
1 package tomato/basil feta cheese
and instead of the mozzarella, I used shredded 4 flavor mexican style cheese.
and instead of just diced tomatoes, I used garlic and olive oil diced tomatoes.
Turned out good, has a very italian flavoring to it. Served it with mashed potatoes of course!

Yesterday, a few of the committee members of the club and myself, visited with Aquatic Arts, in Ocala.
I brought home a very nice toadstool leather. (Thanks guys!)
And have positioned it to the left of my tank.
So far it is doing very well.
I am very pleased with the size of this coral.

Also, I just found out tonight that I won a free frag rack compliments of Captain Salty's of Ocala- Thanks! I will definitely put it to good use!

Today, I added a baby orange Florida Ricordea and a black sea hare to the main tank.
We picked up a long tentacle green anemone for the biocube, let's see if momma & pappa clowns will find it and host!
Monti (my haddoni) is getting exceptionally large! Very healthy. I have increased his feedings, and he definitely lets me know when he is hungry- reaches out for lunch! lol

I also started dosing vodka in the main tank only. As an experiment on nitrates. Right now, (since I feed a bit heavy for all the corals,inverts,fish,etc)- I stay between .3 and .4 - I am wanting to drop down to 0. So for those that have not tried this technique yet, stay tuned, I will give updates. For those that have and do use vodka or vodka/vinegar dosing methods- drop me a line! I would love to hear your feedback on how you think the results came out.

Well... goodnight everyone. I wish you all a very Happy Memorial Day weekend. Be Safe!

Those that know me, know the crazy goings-on that have been going on....is that a sentence?
Anyhoo, for up-to-date info regarding the requirement for hobbyists to obtain a license to sell marine species, please remember to visit this link:
http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1849850
And feel free to post any comments, concerns, or questions you have. Be sure to pass it on to anyone you know who owns a saltwater tank.
We have gotten alot of great feedback and cooperation from the FWCC, so we will keep you updated.

In doing some surfing on the web, posting this link in various forums that I am registered with, I stumbled upon a new forum:
http://www.captivereefs.com/
A very welcoming site, quick posting, easy navigation, and there are daily contests, and games.
There is even a live chat room, to get to know your fellow reefers better!
If you are into reef-keeping, then stop on by, and register- remember to say that Chelle's Ocean referred you, lol and you will be helping me win a prize for referrals!

Ok, all, I've gotten several emails regarding my Etsy shop....I will be opening it up for orders shortly. I am in the process of making some more soaps, and lip balm. Will post a heads up when it is stocked up again.
In the meantime, I would like to share a recipe I will be trying tomorrow, and hope you like it.

Bruschetta Chicken Bake
(recipe is courtesy of KraftFoods Food & Family magazine,2008)
Prep Time: 10min   Total 40 min  Makes 6 servings @ 1 cup each
1 can (14 1/2 oz) diced tomatoes, undrained

Today was scheduled for a committee meeting - for our Reef Club.
We covered several topics, to be discussed further in detail at our next couple of meetings.
Everything is looking great - we have a nice build up of members-to-be so far.
Our next meeting is scheduled to be at Ian's home- again, if you wish to get further information, please jump onto our forum:
http://ocalareefclub.phpbb3now.com/index.php
and look under Kingnai's post. He has a nice DIY project he will be demonstrating...but I'm not gonna tell ya what it is.....
you have to go to the forum to find out!
Again, as always, if anyone in the area is interested, please feel free to come visit and join our club.
We'd love to have you!

I am in the process of trying to catch a few fish from my tank....lol these little buggers know I am wanting them out and they are making it very hard. These are sneaky sneaky fish!
I will be posting between fish catching, so feel free to comment as usual- and I will get right back to you!

I went to one of the LFS today, to pick up a green bubble tip anemone, for my clowns, BUT the silly little thing would not be bought! He pulled himself so far into the rock, that (Connor) the fish guy said he would try while I was at the meeting....but no luck- still hiding in the rock. So I moved my small pearl white bubble tip to the biocube in the bedroom, and we will see if the clowns like it.

I am in the process also of fragging out some more coral. I will post photos of these when they have been given ample time to attach themselves to the plugs/rocks - and ready to deliver or ship.
All prices will be stated with each photo- so if you have any questions, you know I am only an email away.

I wish everyone a great evening, I am getting to all my TwitterMoms, promise! I will be on there tomorrow, to play catch up again. Thanks for following and I will see you tomorrow!

Something Simple......but Oh So Good!

I LOVE using my crockpot- it is so simple, just throw everything in- and BAM! You have a meal.
The other day I tossed in some chicken breast, thinkly sliced onion, jar of medium salsa, and simmered on low for the day. I then shredded the meat, and put it back into the crock to absorb the juices, and Mmmm this is so delish! Served with fajita stlye rice, (but I also made mashed potatoes the next day and ate the chicken with the potatoes- WAY better!)

This weekend I might make some slow-cooked pork-as my son loves that!

I am going to take advantage of this beautiful weather we have going on- and get outdoors for my walks.
Have been staying in taking care of a few projects, and I miss being out in the sun. So, I plan on at least an hour this afternoon just for walking. May even go to the park.

For everyone interested............and local, please feel free to join our next meeting for the Marion Ocala Reef Enthusiasts Club. We will be meeting on May 16th, 3:00pm - hosted this month by Ian.
Email me for specifics and I will give you directions to Ian's.
Very excited about this- each meeting seems to grow more in attendance, and we are going to be doing DIY projects and frag swaps/auctions, not to mention fragging sessions in the near future. Very happy our club has been established- thanks again Raul!

Thursday, April 15, 2010

Well....it has been a bit since I've posted- sorry.
Just got done with jury duty...and I'm back!
Ok, so let's see...... what has happened since my last post?
Ah,yes, our April Meeting of the Marion- Ocala- Reef- Enthusiasts- Club
otherwise known for now as M.O.R.E.
We had the pleasure of visiting Ron's home, where he showcased his beautiful aquarium for us, hosted the meeting, and gave a tour to his garage where he has the sump set up.
How unique to see it completely apart from the tank! Whereas most of us have ours under our tanks, his is in a whole other part of the house!
Very nice meeting- we got to see a demonstration from Bill
(TanksALot of Ocala) on testing your water, and we had a great frag raffle. Each person got to participate for the coral they desired. -

And I won one of the giveaways!!!
Soooooo excited about this:
I received a frag of Ron's Blue Tort
Which I 'believe' to be a
California Blue Tort:

Acropora tortuosa "California Blue Tort Staghorn Frag"

California Blue Tort Staghorn Coral has deep blue coloration with some blue-green towards the trunk, and the tips display brilliant violet-blue. The California varies slightly from the Oregon Tort in color, and tends to be slightly more violet. This version also tends to grow more quickly.
(this info was taken directly from http://www.thatfishplace.com/ so please visit for more info)

As soon as I placed this little guy into my tank, he took on such a nice purply color!

Also, Ron gave me a piece of his GORGEOUS show size
 Montipora Capricornis :

For those of you that aren't reef geeks:
Montipora Capricornis is a SPS coral
with swirling plates that looks
incredible in your tank when it
reaches Ron's show piece size!
Under my lights, it takes on a
brilliant orange with flourescent patches.
Here is a full tank shot of Ron's tank,
where you can see the Montipora Capricornis in the middle.

We now have a forum set up aside from our facebook page:
Please feel free to visit, sign up if you are in the area and would like to be
a member of the club - or just want to read and gain
some shared knowledge of the hobby we love so much!

May's meeting is to be held by our very own Ian!
Thanks Ian!! Can't wait!!

Have a great weekend everyone!

Looking for something different?

Try a bar of handmade Gardenia Soap.

This is a very intoxicating aroma of fresh gardenias.

The soap is made from a glycerin base, with apricot seeds and sugar for gentle exfoliation.
Provides a nice lather effect.
Gardenia aroma is sweet and delicate.
It is considered to be calming and
mood-uplifting.

This bar features the lily design I use often, as it is a nice, delicate looking soap to have in your bathroom basket, or to give as a gift, very pretty.
The color is a nice blue with glitter and mica for decoration.
Please feel free to visit my shop at Etsy: http://www.createdbychelle.etsy.com/ to see what I will be adding to my shop. Thanks for stopping by! Have a Great Day!

Happy Easter
to all my favorite followers!

Monday, March 29, 2010

Ever watch the P90X videos on tv? You know the ones, late at night while snacking in bed or really early in the morning when you are eating your bacon/egg/cheese muffin?
Yup- those videos. They do look good, I have yet to want to spend that much on a workout video, though. But I gotta say, the results on these people look good.
I have pulled up a few videos on P90X on YouTube, to see what the routines were, and possibly incorporate them into my daily routine.
Well, I came across this one - about protein shakes - and since it's been a bit since I posted a recipe for a shake, I figured I would share.
I love the bananas and peanut butter mixed in with chocolate protein mix.
(watch how much actually goes into the blender...and not a drop spilled!)

Hope you enjoy- try it out and let me know what you think!

Thursday, March 25, 2010

Today was a good day. I got to visit one of my favorite stores (Aquatropics), and picked up a cute little addition to my lil' ocean.......
A Hyacinth Pink Birdnest frag - tank raised by ORA (seriatopora hystrix).
It's very cute - and the color is a nice bold, deep pink that pops under my halides.
The size as of today: 1.5" by 2.5"
I am eager to see how fast this little baby will grow!
Here are a couple of pics with a ruler to give an idea of the size:

I have been doing so much with my tank lately, I think I may start a separate page just devoted to reefing. It truly is an obsession once you get into it! I LOVE my tank, my corals, the fish- very calming to watch and exciting to 'create' a piece of the reef. I am thinking of starting up another tank, and doing a biotope theme.
(will post when it begins!)

I have been reading so many blogs lately, and other sites, that I am just going to start sharing one here and there. Be sure to click on the links, and browse through the chosen sites to explore what the day's topic holds. Today: Baby Clothing.
And oh how sweet! Go to: http://www.adorablebabyclothing.com/ and see what is available. I betcha as soon as you click on the homepage you will say: "Awwwwww......" - yup, they're just that cute!

I look forward to seeing more, and will most likely share a few here...
so you, too, can see what you were missing. From recipes to business philosophies.... all ground is covered- and shared by wonderful people.

Thank You and Have a Fantastic Day!

Tuesday, March 16, 2010

So busy lately, with homelife, son's weightlifting/wrestling practices, new reef club getting started- YES!!!, getting things together for a new venture- whew....very busy indeed! First of all, I would like to thank each and every follower of mine. Your comments are appreciated, and I am getting back to each one of you- one by one. So please bear with me, as my quest for larger numbers is coming true (much thanks!) - but I am  going into each one's blog or site. I don't want to get in the habit of just hitting "Follow"- I want to actually read what you have to say.
So, again, be patient- I should be caught up to speed with everyone shortly.

"Bubba", because I can't think of a name that suits him yet, is the angler I got from TanksALot (see below).
Call Bill and ask him to order one for you if interested. You can find him at http://www.tanksalotpets.com/ - orders come in very quickly. You should see him 'chase' his food- haha he looks like a little bulldog running!

Mine happens to be a Sargassum, but they come in a variety of colors. Raul, our club founder, has a pink one. But still I can't figure out how to grab a photo from facebook, soooo I will ask him to email one to me. His is adorable!

The Marion/Ocala Reef Enthusiasts Next Meeting:
Sunday April 11, 2010
3pm to 6pm
To Be Held At Ron DeNoia's Home

Oh, and I think I am keeping the reggae on for a bit longer, it is both soothing and upbeat at the same time.
I love working out to the faster songs- but BuJu Banton gets you swaying in your seat, yup...caught ya!
Have a great night everyone!

Sunday, March 14, 2010

Whew! So glad we are back to our sunshine!
This has been such a nice weekend, very nice indeed.
Yesterday, while in Ocala, I stopped at TankALot- to see
the angler Bill had ordered for me. So Cute.
I am enclosing a pic of mine, and
a picture of Raul's (founder of Marion/Ocala Reef Enthusiasts Club).
His is a pretty pink color. I will still be on the lookout for the Warty Angler,
so cool - have wanted one for quite some time. Or a RED one perhaps.
Here is a link to Raul's video:
http://www.facebook.com/video/video.php?v=100792059960091

Here is a pic of my little guy:

So far I am calling him "Bubba"- until I come up with a more suitable name. lol!

The Sun Has Been Hijacked!!
Ugh.....this rain had better stop soon. Yes, I know we need the rain--- but it definitely puts a damper on my daily activities. Didn't get to do my regular walk yesterday- and looks like today I am stuck inside again. Yesterday we had 'tornado warnings' throughout the day. Today, hopefully, is just rain. So, that is 2.6 miles of walking a day that I am adding up. I plan on hitting the trail and adding it all together for an awesome walk to get my numbers back on track! I did, however, workout at home yesterday-and plan on doing the same today. So far -as of last week - I have lost 5 lbs! (Yeah Me!) So I plan on keeping up my daily routine until I reach my target weight. Have been up'ing my protein intake, and have basically cut out the Pepsi from my day. (big accomplishment!)
I also fed Monty the other day (my carpet anemone). He is doing so well. I am very pleased with his coloration. At night, when the lunar lights come on, he has such a flourescent green glow to him. He adds a beautiful touch to my aquarium. I cannot wait until the next reef club meeting to see what the other tanks have. Very cool to see and hear how people do things differently in the same hobby.
Have a great day, and enjoy your weekend. I have chosen to play reggae today, to get motivated out of this gloomy rainy morning. Wish you all a Happy Friday!  Enjoy!

Monday, March 8, 2010

What a Beautiful day!
Such a wonderful change to the chilly mornings we've been having. Well, this weekend was packed with good things. Saturday- we visited the Strawberry Festival where the Citrus 3 Style Team had a booth to help raise money for the team. (Thanks to all the patrons who donated to the cause!) A very special thanks to the team members who showed up and helped out!

On Sunday, we attended the Ocala Reef Aquarium Fish Club's First Meeting.
Great turnout, about 17 guests arrived to share in the beginning stages of Ocala's first reef club.
The agenda covered introductions, door prizes, vendor introductions, a MACNA presentation, and discussions on launching the club itself: in respect to the name, creating a forum for our members to visit, and setting up further meetings.
Thank you Bill from TanksALot for taking time to share in this with us - and for donating one of the door prizes. Also, thanks to Aquatic Arts for their donation - we appreciate you guys!
You can find Bill at http://www.tanksalotpets.com/ - where you can sign up for his mailing list, and view him on facebook - new arrivals are posted for you to see as well!
For information on MACNA, please visit http://www.macna2010.com/ - where you can view exhibits, sponsors, and speaker news- as well as register to attend.
Once again- Thank You to Raul and his family for hosting our first meeting~ we look forward to many more!

Wednesday, March 3, 2010

Well, today is just too cold! Trying to get motivated inside the house, so that hopefully by noon the sun will be out enough to take my walk. (hate walking in the cold!) Worse comes to worse, I guess I will just throw on a pullover and go - since I don't want to interrupt my routine.
I enjoy my walks. Great exercise and time to think about new ideas, new projects coming. Enjoying the view of the lakes around my home and neighborhood. Nature is so calming.
A very Happy Wednesday to everyone, I am enjoying your messages- I have been getting them all (going through over 2,000 emails this week!) and I will be getting back to each of you as well. Love visiting your blogs, hearing about different views, ideas, etc. Keep up the good work everyone!
Ohhhh!!! Gotta go! (heehee) The sun is peeking out in the backyard!
Thank you Sun Gods for hearing my call! xoxoxoxo lol!

It's Reggae Monday!
I love reggae music, some of my favorites are Sean Paul, Mr. Vegas, Patra- and of course Buju Banton....
Here is just a sampling, this is what I have intertwined into my iPod while on my walks. Keeps me going!
TODAY...I was walking my daily 2.6 miles, when I got a call. (I don't usually use my phone, just keep it in case of emergency) I didn't feel like I did anything since I was just walking at a normal pace while talking. So, after our convo - I turned around and REDID my walk, for a total of 5.2 miles - felt MUCH better!
So thanks to my caller.... you helped whittle a bit more from my waistline!  I love walking in the sun- I wait until about noon, when it's nice and warm- keeps me in a good mood to motivate me to keep going.
So..... who else got up and moved today?
Take a moment to refresh your iPod list.... get outdoors ...and enjoy this beautiful weather!
(Unless, of course, you are up north with all that snow...
then keep the sunshine in your heart and hit the gym!)
Much love.....

I would like to introduce the newest member of my lil' ocean.......Monty!

On the 20th, I brought home a lovely green carpet anemone.
He is strikingly beautiful. Very full, ruffly, and healthy.
For the past few days he has just eaten the mysis I put in the tank for the fish/coral.
But today... he ate a small piece of food I had offered him. Yeah!
I am hoping that my mated pair of clownfish will take to him,
instead of the hammer and frogspawn they have been visiting....but with this - one can only hope!
I have placed him right in the center of the tank- creating a little nook just for him.
It appears he likes it because he has not moved yet. (that's a good thing!)
Well.... a good night to all of you, just wanted to share my newest, and one of my favorite, lil' friends in my reef tank!

                        Ocala Reef Aquarium Fish Club
                              Inaugural Meeting

Those that know me, know how much I love my aquarium...my "piece of the ocean". And that we travel to get to a good LFS that we trust. There are plenty of clubs around the US, but none here, in our immediate area. Bummed, I had done a search, and the closest to us was out in Tampa. After mulling it over for abit..... I decided that maybe I should just start my own club. For the reef lovers around me. Low and behold as I went to TanksALot in Ocala (by the way...it was Bill's birthday on Friday- Happy Birthday to him!), I happened to be in line behind a gentleman starting a club in Ocala! So I (sorry) interrupted his conversation to ask some questions- and was glad I did.
Here is what is coming up:
Sunday March 7, 2010 at 3pm , Raul will be hosting the first meeting of the Ocala Reef Club. Today is my birthday...so....
Happy Birthday To Me!!
I have been absent for a few days,
I admit- sorry for that.
But when I logged on to my blog this morning,
I now have * 65 * following friends!
Such a nice gift! Thanks for following everyone!

Hope all those up north are staying as warm as they can!
As for me, I plan on working on my tan today (indoors of course!)
To get a jumpstart on the summer color I love so much!

Also, surfing the net for a new addition to my reef tank.
Since I mentioned earlier  that I had brought home a frogspawn and hammer coral.....my mated pair of clownfish
have started hosting BOTH, alternating each night, frogspawn, then hammer, then back to frogspawn.
So to prevent unwanted stress to my corals, I am on the hunt for a haddoni anemone.
(because I simply don't want the GIANT magnificent anemone in my tank).
So I called Aquatropics last night to see what they have....and missed the one they just got in and sold.
So - on the look out for a nice, healthy saddleback carpet (haddoni) anemone..... any suppliers out there?

Wishing everyone a fabulous day! Thanks for sharing my birthday, and my posts-
Be Blessed in Life.....
